Miss Mississippi 2011 Winner Announced

After getting the title of Miss Mississippi 2010 at the Vicksburg Convention Center the Farmer Miss metro Jackson Sarah Beth James a Madison woman is campaigning for the importance of organ and tissue donation. This is her platform upon which she is working and the next Miss Mississippi will also work on the same platform.

Sarah Beth James visited Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in her second official appearance. This is the only hospital in the state devoted exclusively to the treatment of sick and injured youngsters. More than 150,000 children from all of the state’s 82 countries come there each year. Batson hospital benefits from the unique partnership between The Miss America Organization and Children’s Miracle Network. While her second official appearance James passed out 135 teddy bears and many other toys. She often visits the hospital and brings great smiles on sick youngsters.

In the year of her service as Miss Mississippi she will quit her college. She is double major at Mississippi State in Public Relations and journalism and has a minor in Spanish.

James is putting special attention towards the preparations that are required for Miss America Pageant 2011 Competition. She is spending more time in Vicksburg and trying to be focused. In the Miss Mississippi competition she stood out among 45 contestants and James got talent in many areas, such as answering the questions on stage and playing the classic piano. She generously beat the previous Miss Mississippi, Anna Tadlok. But now she is working even harder on each and every aspect which will help her to beat 50 most talented women from all over the United States of America in the grand competition. Which is going to held in Las Vegas on January 15 and will be broadcast on the ABC television network.

While doing many other things she always showed her interest to have a good name of her state Mississippi. All the contestants with her were treated honorably during their stay in Vicksburg. Miss Mississippi Corporation distributed around $294,561 in scholarship funds among the winners. They provided $10,000 scholarship to Sarah Beth James, the First Alternate to Miss Mississippi was Jill Duckworth and she got $7,500. The Second Alternate Kristen Benigno got $6,000, the third one got $3,500, the fourth one got $2,500 and the Five Semi-Finalists (each) got $2,000 scholarship. All of the non-finalist (35each) got $1,000 and Six Non-Finalist Talent Awards (each) got $500. Additional Cash Scholarship Awards were also given to many of the contestant. Approximately 2200 people watched the competition. Because of it the state got “economic boom”. People traveled from many places and stayed in hotels and buy many things from downtown and market places of Mississippi.
